Dahlonega is well-regarded as the home of several award winning wineries that have given rise to the region's nickname as Georgia's Wine Country. Today, more than 20 wineries dot the slopes of the North Georgia Mountains. Responsible for creating some of the most celebrated wine varieties in the country, from traditional cabernets and chardonnays, to intriguing French-American hybrids, these award-winning vineyards continue to flourish. These wines have put the area on the map, even garnering the distinction of the sixth-largest wine growing state in the nation.
